On the afternoon of August 14, Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, met in Changsha with Fu Hua, secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and president of Xinhua News Agency.

Secretary Shen, on behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People"s Government of Hunan Province, extended a warm welcome to Fu Hua and his delegation and thanked Xinhua News Agency for its long-term strong support to Hunan. Shen stated that Xinhua News Agency shoulders the mission of being the spokesperson, eyes, and think tank of the CPC Central Committee. It plays a central role as the main force, channel, and arena for the Party"s press and public communications work. The CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People"s Government of Hunan Province will as always support the work of Hunan Branch of Xinhua News Agency and provide a strong guarantee for Xinhua News Agency"s development in Hunan. Shen hoped that both sides will establish a new cooperation mechanism, utilize their respective strengths, promote in-depth economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa, and serve the overall situation of the country"s opening up to the outside world.

Fu Hua expressed gratitude to Hunan for its strong support to Xinhua News Agency. Fu said that Xinhua News Agency will continue to promote the vivid practice made by Hunan in implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and following the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee. He added that Xinhua News Agency will tell Hunan stories well, give better play to its strengths, support Hunan in deepening economic and trade cooperation with Africa, and provide strong support for the high-quality economic and social development of Hunan.

Provincial leaders Xie Weijiang and Yang Haodong attended the meeting.
